A tummy tuck is also known as an abdominoplasty. Mr Richards introduces the video, by showing us the patients tummy area, highlighting her stretch-marks from where she has had children, and talks about the main area of skin he will be removing during the surgery.
The next part of the video Mr Richards shows us the stomach, with the skin removed and pulled up. He draws around the abdominal muscles, which have become separated through childbirth, and talks about how he will stitch up these muscles to tighten up the tummy wall.
When the rectus abdominus muscles have been sticthed up, Mr Richards sews in the belly button, then puts some local anaesthetic in for added comfort post surgery.
The skin is stretched and sewn together, allowing the excess to be removed. A new hole has been made for the belly button and it has been secured with the skin of the stomach stretched over it.
