An ex-millionaire, near Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, committed suicide after developing a gambling addiction. The rich woman was a maid, but owned three apartments she had inherited from her father. Her husband was unemployed due to a chronic disease so she worked two jobs in order to support him and their three children. In order to bulk up her income and fuel her gambling addiction, the woman borrowed a large sum of money from loan sharks.
Later, she sold all three of her properties — lower than market value — to pay off the debt. Clearly it wasn’t enough, because the woman committed suicide while wiping windows in a mansion in the North Point area of Hong Kong.
